It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

This short story adventure book comprises of 3 stories. Each story involves teenagers, who find themselves involved in mystery and adventure. X-ray Lawrence and The Florist Shop Detectives are set in the present day, while Narrow Escapes is set in World War 2.

The White Coat Conspiracy
The book follows the travails of Alfie Noakes, a newly qualified psychiatric nurse, as he joins an isolated Victorian mental hospital in around 1960. He uncovers and exposes a series of practices and goings on that are immoral and corrupt. Alfie’s life is repeatedly threatened as he and his girlfriend (Helen), bring the perpetrators to account.
Sophie's Choices
Sophie’s Choices details the journey made by a country girl (Sophie Beedon) in 1914, in England. She leaves her innocence behind and learns the art of loving and loving along the way. As well as participating in great sensual satisfaction and knowledge, she also experiences excruciating loss and psychological trauma before regaining the ability to love again.
A Lodgeful Of Words
A collection of poetry that explores human feelings of love, loss and anger. As well as having an adult perspective, there are poems written as through a child’s eyes. The reader might feel that they are actually IN a particular poem, as it taps into their own feelings and memories. The poems take the reader through a lifetime’s journey of experiences and emotions.

Steve Whitmill has been a psychiatric nurse and geographer, and is a tutor and father. His inspirations come from personal love and loss, places he has visited and his appreciation of a wealth of literature and poetry; his influences include Spike Milligan, Carol Ann Duffy and Simon Armitage. He is currently writing a book on the Victorian Asylums. Steve is married and lives in Northampton.
A Hotel of Views
This 5th volume of original poetry sets out to blend the key features that have emerged in my previous work. These are human feelings of love and loss, fanciful observations and comments that would not be out of place in a Spike Milligan book, and the author’s own whimsical meanderings drawn from holidays and interactions with others. The author hopes that the sentiments of some poems relate to how the reader sees life and how they might evaluate humanistic considerations.
A Gathering of Children's Poetry
This book is a compilation of children’s (and silly adults’) poems, which are taken from the last 5 volumes of my poetry. The idea emerged during my work (as a volunteer) at Thorplands Primary School, in Northampton, after interest from the great year 5 children there, and their fantastic teacher, Beth Conroy. Added to this a sprinkling of the years spent with my own 4 children, the poems themselves draw heavily on the work of Spike Milligan and Gary Larson, and offer alternative takes and observations of everyday life, experiences and encounters; some are unashamedly silly. As the great, late Graham Chapman once said, ‘there’s not enough silliness in the world’. And with this, I rest my case and hope that children and adults alike enjoy them!
